It's been a tough season for 28-year-old netminder Eric Comrie, but Friday's contest could go a long way into rebuilding some shaky confidence.
In his first game since being demoted to the American Hockey League's Rochester Americans by the Buffalo Sabres on January 1st, Comrie put up 33 saves as the Amerks moved past the Cleveland Monsters with a final score of 3-1.
Signing a two-year deal with the Sabres in the summer of 2022, Comrie posted a 3.67 GAA and .886 SP with a 9-9-1 record through 19 games last season with the Sabres, putting up a 3.03 GAA and .898 SP and a 1-2 record through three games with Rochester.
Comrie's numbers were uninspiring through seven NHL contests this season, with the Edmonton native posting a 1-5 record with a 4.01 GAA and .863 SP before being sent to the AHL.
The 59th overall draft pick of the Winnipeg Jets in 2013, Comrie has a 3.40 GAA and .893 SP through 54 NHL games with the Jets, Red Wings, Devils and Sabres.
His AHL numbers are more manageable. Through 211 games with the St. John's IceCaps, Manitoba Moose, Tuscon Roadrunners and Americans, Comrie has 92 wins with 10 shutouts, a 2.81 GAA and .911 SP.
