Jack Campbell seems to have found his mojo.
The 32-year-old netminder, who was demoted to the AHL's Bakersfield Condors in November following a nightmare run with the Edmonton Oilers in which the 2010 first-rounder posted a 1-4 record with a 4.50 GAA and .873 SP, won his fourth straight game with the Condors on Sunday night. The thriving Condors improved to 10-1-2 over the past 13 games.
Campbell stopped 27 of 29 shots against the Ontario Reign, as the Condors provided plenty of run-support as the club bounced the Reign 6-2. It was the fourth straight game in which Soup (as he's affectionately known) has allowed two or fewer goals against.
Campbell pushed his AHL record to 8-6 with one shutout, a 3.03 GAA and .904 SP, though he seems to have steadied the ship following a woeful start to his tenure in Bakersfield in which he allowed four goals or more in three straight games.
With Stuart Skinner playing some of the best hockey of his career in Edmonton, and Calvin Pickard seeing little in the way of ice time in a backup role, the Oilers could opt to allow Campbell more time to rebuild his confidence in the American League before a deserved return to the National Hockey League.
