The 27-year-old has nine points in his last five games with Toronto.
Bobby McMann has taken the road less travelled to NHL stardom.
The 27-year-old product of Colgate University, who spent the past five years bouncing between the ECHL and AHL, has firmly cemented himself as a reliable, and thriving, bottom-six presence for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The undrafted centreman continued his torrid offensive pace last night as the Buds doubled up on the Coyotes 6-3. McMann opened the scoring at 1:56 of the first period for his ninth of the season, assisting on John Tavares' marker at 8:24 of the third period.
The outing moved McMann to 16 points through 31 NHL games this season, buoying his red-hot run with seven goals and nine points in the last five games.
McMann, occupying the third line with John Tavares and Nicholas Robertson as well as featuring on the second power play, first broke into the Leafs' system in 2020-21, splitting time between the ECHL's Newfoundland Growlers and AHL's Toronto Marlies.
Through parts of four seasons with the Marlies McMann has logged 71 points through 118 games. His 16 points have already smashed his career high in the NHL. McMann only logged one point in 10 games with Toronto in the 2022-23 season.
The emergence of McMann as a reliable, well-rounded depth forward gives Toronto a much-needed, and long sought-after source of secondary scoring.
