Twenty-four-year-old goaltender Jaxson Stauber made AHL history as the IceHogs moved past the Chicago Wolves on Friday.

Rockford goaltender Jaxson Stauber had himself a night for the history books.

Stauber, 24, made 24 saves for his first professional shutout. What's more, the Minnesota native added an empty-net goal as the IceHogs toppled the Chicago Wolves 4-0 on Friday night.

With the unlikely twofer, Stauber becomes the first goaltender in American Hockey League history to score a goal and record a shutout in the same game.

He joins his father, Robb Stauber, on an exclusive list of goaltenders to score in an AHL game. Stauber senior scored a goal for the Rochester Americans in 1995.

Jaxson Stauber is in his second season with Rockford after signing with the Chicago Blackhawks on Mar. 23, 2022.

A product of Providence College, Stauber split time between the Blackhawks and their AHL affiliate in Rockford last season, going 5-1 in the NL with a 2.81 GAA and .911 SP through six appearances. It was a finer clip than his AHL totals, where he's struggled in two years with the club largely.

In 2022-23 Stauber suited up for 17 games with the IceHogs, finishing with a 3.32 GAA and .894 SP. This season through 18 games he has a somewhat better statline, with one shutout, a 3.16 GAA and .894 SP.

The IceHogs currently sit fourth in the central division with a .500 record of 19-19-5-2 through 45 games.
