Knight now holds the franchise record for the longest shutout streak

Spencer Knight set a new team record for longest shutout streak on Saturday as the Charlotte Checkers dropped a heartbreaking 1-0 overtime loss in Bridgeport. Knight’s streak ended at an astounding 213:23, besting the old record of 192:02 set by Michael Leighton during the 2016-17 season.

Knight narrowly missed what would have been his third consecutive shutout and fourth in his last five games, being beaten by a power-play marker by former Checker Dennis Cholowski during the extra session.
The 22-year old pushed his AHL campaign in Charlotte to 23-13-5 on the season with a 2.42 GAA and a .905 SP with five shutouts.
Knight has a 32-17-6 record through 52 games with the NHL’s Florida Panthers, sporting a 2.91 GAA and .906 SP and three shutouts through his tenure with the club.
