A third round selection of the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2019, Kokkonen has recorded nine goals and 46 points in 162 career AHL games, all with Toronto. The 24-year-old has amassed significant professional experience outside of North America with 54 points in 216 career games in Finland's Liiga over parts of six seasons. Kokkonen never appeared in a regular season NHL game during his time in Toronto and was not tendered a qualifying offer in June, making him a free agent.
