The Kings travel to the Sin City to take on the Golden Knights in what is always an exciting matchup. Vegas are defending Stanley Cup Champions and look the part with the third-best record in the league at 21-10-5 and have the fourth-best offense in the month of December with an average of 3.75 goals per game. However, the Kings look to be the new kid in town with a top three offense in goals per game this season (3.58) and the best defense in the league with the lowest goals against per game (2.32) thanks to their elite depth, which was once a Vegas trademark.
It is sure to be an exciting game with both teams splitting their last six games. Most recently, the Kings won 4-1 in early November on the road in a tough environment that is T-Mobile Arena. Will they be able to repeat their success from last time or will the Golden Knights reclaim the throne? Here are some tips for bets that may be able to answer these questions and hopefully win you some money. All betting odds listed are from BetMGM and are subject to change.
Bet: Phillip Danault over 0.5 points (+105)
In the Kings last three wins over the Golden Knights, Danault played a pivotal role with five points across the three games and they will need to get him involved. He is known predominantly for his elite two-way game, but Danault has also been a great offensive weapon for the Kings this season with 13 assists and 20 points in 31 games. He also has a point in five of his last eight games.
Bet: Over 6.0 goals (-120)
The Kings 4-1 win in their last matchup was their first game under six or more goals in 12 games. These two routinely have high-scoring games and despite the Kings elite defense, the Golden Knights should get two or three goals past Cam Talbot, who has a 8-7-3 record and a 3.12 goals against average in his career versus Vegas. Both teams are coming in on a back-to-back as well, which could mean tired legs on defense as well.
Bet: 1st Period over 1.5 goals (-135)
The Kings get out to early leads often as they are tied for the eighth-most first period goals in the league with 35 goals in 31 games. The Golden Knights have scored first in 19 of 36 games this year which is tied for fifth-most in the league. Both teams should come out of the gate hot and at least get one goal a piece.
