The Devils take care of business at home and battle the Habs to the over with offensive help from Erik Haula

The Habs have been struggling this season and haven’t been able to find their footing with four wins in their last 12 games despite stellar performances from netminders Sam Montembeault and Cayden Primeau. The Devils started to figure things out with five wins over a six game stretch before battling injuries and going on a 1-2-1 stretch since. They’ve still been feisty with a top ten offense over their last 11 games with a 3.55 goals per game average that ranks higher than the Jets, Rangers and Leafs during that span.

They get to play on their home ice against a Habs team that is better on the road than in their own building with a 9-7-4 road record compared to their 9-11-3 record at home. They may have a fighting chance against a Devils team that has only won half of their last ten home games.

It should prove to be a close game and if you want to get in on the Wednesday night action, here are our best bets for tonight’s game that should help build your bank for a hockey-filled Thursday.

Pick: Over 5.5 goals (-175), Erik Haula over 0.5 points (-115)

This matchup is routinely high-scoring with Devils scoring three or more goals in seven of their last eight matchups versus the Habs and confirmed starter for Montreal, Sam Montembeault, has given up at least three goals in eight of his last nine starts between the pipes. If the Habs can get at least two goals, which they have in nine of their last 12 games then we should be close enough to this line for an empty net chance for the Devils.

Erik Haula has led the way for the Devils since the start of the new year with six points in as many games despite the absence of star player Jack Hughes. He will get back Timo Meier to help the Devils produce enough offense to get past the Habs.
