The Red Wings battle the Stars to the over in goals despite not having star Patrick Kane in the lineup

The Red Wings are starting to piece things together with a 7-1-1 record in their last nine games, when before that they were 3-9-1 since adding Patrick Kane to the lineup. His debut was just as bad as their record as they lost 6-5 to a last place Sharks team. He has certainly added a lot to the Wings’ offense with seven goals and 16 points in 19 games but now the 35-year-old Buffalo native is out till the end of January with a lower-body injury. Good thing since the start of their hot streak, youngsters Daniel Sprong and Lucas Raymond have found their touch with a combined five goals and 15 points.

They will look to continue their hot streak against a Dallas Stars team, who’s beat them in six straight matchups but have cooled down a bit as of late with only six wins in their last 12 games. During that span, they are still showing signs of a lethal hockey club with a top three offense averaging 4.08 goals per game but their backend has tailed off with their goals against average falling into mediocre, middle of the pack range with a 2.83 goals against average.

The Stars look to keep up with the Jets and Avalanche, who are ahead of them in the Central division where every win will matter come the end of the season. The Red Wings will be in a battle to make a Wild Card spot and will need wins as much as they can get them. Both sides need this win and should make for an exciting matchup and if you want to get in on the action, here is our best bet for tonight’s game that should help you win some cash.

Pick: Over 6.5 goals (-110)

Both teams have offenses firing on all cylinders and overs have been frequent for both sides. The Red Wings have seen seven or more goals in nine of their last 16 games and the Stars have seen the same in 16 of their last 23 games. These two normally have high-scoring matchups with this over hitting in six of their last eight matchups. It should hit again with both sides having starting goalies and defenseman out with the Wings not having Ville Husso and Ben Chiarot plus the Stars having Miro Heiskanen and likely Jake Oettinger absent.
