Bet: Jets +1.5 (-150)
Looking at both teams’ records, the Canucks have a slight edge with a 41-17-7 record versus 40-17-5 for the Jets. Both teams are coming off a win, with the Canucks riding the wave of three straight wins in clean fashion including a decisive win over the Golden Knights.
But that winning streak might end tonight for Vancouver as Winnipeg are 14-5-1 against them in their last 20 matchups with the last time the two teams met, the Jets came out victorious with a 4-2 lead.
The Jets are averaging a decent 3.11 goals per game while on the defensive end, they look more menacing with a 2.37 goals against per game average that ranks second-best in the NHL.
The projected starters look to be Winnipeg’s Connor Hellebuyck and Vancouver’s Thatcher Demko, who should likely keep the game close. Demko has the edge on Hellebuyck in terms of record with a 33-13-2 record vs a 29-13-3 but the Jets netminder truly shines in save percentage with an impressive .992 that is tied for best in the league with Boston’s Jeremy Swayman. He should prove to be a difference maker and help the Jets keep it close.
Bet: Golden Knights -1.5 (+130)
The Golden Knights have lost four games in a row so expect them to come out of the gate firing as they hope to bounce back against a tired Red Wing team, who were blanked by Arizona in the first game of a back-to-back on Friday night.
Looking at their recent history, the Red Wings have the advantage of winning six of their last ten meetings and have emerged victorious in the last two matchups but Detroit has had apparent defensive struggles as of late, giving up 3.46 goals per game since the start of February.
Vegas’ defense also performs at another level when at home, allowing just 2.55 goals at home this season which ranks top six in the league. They should slow down a tired Wings team and win decisively.
Bet: Stars Kings Over 6.0 goals (-115)
The Stars are riding a four-game win streak, beating the Jets, Sharks and then finally claiming a road victory against the Ducks last night. The Kings are also starting to heat up with ten wins over their last 15 games.
This game should be full of action and plentiful for goals. The Stars are averaging 3.58 goals per game and are scoring on 23.1 percent of their power play opportunities. Their last two games saw them pot more than five goals in a 7-6 win against the Sharks and a 6-2 victory against the Ducks. The Kings can also score in bunches, averaging 3.08 goals per game.
Although the Stars are on the second half of a back-to-back, their road record of 20-9-5 this season is third-best in the league and could be attributed to their 113 road goals this season that ranks second-best. The Stars should carry the majority of the load for the over while the Kings aim to keep it close.
