Bet: Red Wings regulation time ML (-105), Red Wings Blue Jackets Under 6.5 goals (+100)
The Wings are fighting for their playoff lives in a tight race with the Lightning four points ahead and the Capitals three points ahead with the Islanders and Sabres in the chase from behind as well. They have to start playing with urgency and see a must win game tonight at home against Columbus.
It’s a favourable matchup as they’ve beaten the Blue Jackets in four of their last five games and outscored the opponent 19 to seven in their wins. Detroit have seen their game falter at the worst time with just one win in their last nine games with bad losses to the Sabres and twice to the Coyotes.
It should make for a close matchup with the Red Wings only having one more point than the Blue Jackets since the All-Star break. During that span, Detroit has scored five more goals with 56 but has also allowed seven more goals with 68 and gives them higher rate at 3.78 goals against per game that ranks fourth-worst in the league.
They will need a bounce back game and tonight feels like the perfect spot as they return home to Little Caesars arena where they are 19-11-5 compared to the Blue Jackets and their 10-16-6 road record.
The game signals towards a hard over but I like the under as the Jackets expected netminder Daniil Tarasov has been great over his last eight starts with a 2.08 goals against average.
Bet: Blues +1.5 (-140), Avalanche Blues Under 6.5 goals (-120)
The Avalanche have surprisingly won nine straight games in St. Louis and has made the Blues building their own with most of the games ending very close. Colorado had a road problem however, as the 2022 Stanley Cup Champions have been brutal defensively on the road this season with the fourth-most goals allowed on the road with 122 tied with Detroit.
They looked to remedy this by acquiring defenseman Sean Walker from the Flyers and it paid off. Since the trade deadline, they’ve gone undefeated on the road with three straight wins and have lowered their goals against to just seven over the recent stretch.
The Blues have been great at home as of late which should make this a great matchup as they are 7-3-0 with a 2.20 goals against average during that span that is tied for seventh-best in the league during that span.
It should be a tight low-scoring game with both teams having defensive units playing at their best lately. The Blues have been a great home team when it comes to the puck line with a 10-5 record against the spread in their last 15 home games. They may win this game but play it safe with the puck line and the under.
Bet: Travis Konecny over 0.5 points (-160)
Veteran winger Travis Konecny has taken over the reigns of top point man for the Flyers with 16 points over his last 12 games, which is six games less than second-place Owen Tippett and Morgan Frost have played yet he has three more points since the All-Star break.
The Flyers top line is lethal with Frost and Tippett opposite Konecny and with Frost seeing the biggest spike in production with four goals and 13 points tied with Tippett over their last 18 games.
One of these three will likely find the back of the net and it seems to be Konecny as the prime suspect. He has a history of dominating Toronto and has recently with a pair of goals and ten points over their last six matchups. The odds aren’t great for this one but will be a great add to any parlay you had in mind.
