PWHL's 3-on-3 showcases sees Ella Shelton lead her Team King to a win as they kickoff NHL All-Star Weekend
The PWHL will be on full display tonight with their Canadian Tire 3-on-3 showcase that will kick off the NHL All-Star weekend festivities. Some of the players will be across the city of Toronto participating in events throughout the day with the culmination being an exciting game between the league’s best players. The team’s are named after the league’s co-founder Billie Jean King and PWHL advisory board member Ilana Kloss.
The betting lines are even for tonight’s matchup between Team King and Team Kloss, which gives us a great opportunity to take advantage and possibly win some cash. If you plan to watch the festivities this evening and want to get in on the action, here are our best bets in tonight’s matchup.
All betting lines are from Bet365 and are subject to change. Please gamble responsibly.
Pick: Team King ML (-115)
Team King is slightly stronger with a combined 19 goals and 50 points in PWHL play with their headlining player being Alina Müller, who is tied for the league lead in points with nine, and Marie-Philip Poulin, who is tied for the league lead in goals with six. Their defense is also much stronger on offense with 22 combined points from their backend to Team Kloss’ nine for their defensemen. Their strong offense should help them get past tough goaltenders in PWHL first-round pick Nicole Hensley and get the win.
Pick: Ella Shelton anytime goal (+190)
Nicole Hensley has been phenomenal for PWHL Minnesota, only allowing eight goals over five starts. She will make it tough for Team King to score but someone with experience against Hensley is Megan Keller, Savannah Harmon and Ella Shelton, who are all on Team King and have scored on Hensley this season. The best goal scorer of the three is Shelton, who scored the first ever PWHL goal and has the most goals by a defenseman this season with three and should place her on the starting line, where she will see a lot of chances.
Pick: Over 7.5 goals (-140)
We know from 3-on-3 games at the All-Star break before that it is bound to be high-scoring with the Metropolitan and Atlantic divisions combining for 16 goals in a semifinal during last year’s All-Star game. The expanded room of ice to play with is bound to help these ladies score and they have proven they can in bunches already with most PWHL games averaging between four to six goals and should see a boost. Eight or more goals should be easy to hit as they likely score ten if I had to guess.
