The Rangers and Hurricanes finished seventh and eighth in goals per game average with rates at 3.39 and 3.38 respectively

Sunday features the end of the first round with the last matchup taking place between the Dallas Stars and Vegas Golden Knights in Game seven. The second round also kicks off with an afternoon matinee featuring the Carolina Hurricanes and New York Rangers. The fresh slate of games give us a chance to finally bring back the Pad Stacking Challenge.

If you aren’t familiar, our new betting challenge uses the concept of building our bank and rolling over our profits. We do this by stacking our winnings through well-researched picks given out daily that will hopefully build our bank.

We were on the hottest streak in the history of the Challenge with bank total at $1,010 that ended sadly but we look to get hot once again as we saw a big momentum swing for the picks on Saturday with a perfect 3-0 record in the Bruins win over the Maple Leafs in Game seven. We look to keep the ball rolling Sunday and start the second round on a good note.

All betting lines are from BetMGM and are subject to change. Hockey is a difficult sport to predict so please gamble responsibly.

Bet: Hurricanes Rangers Over 5.5 goals (+105)

The Rangers sweep over the Capitals saw six or more goals in two of the four games while the Hurricanes were much more defensive in their series versus the Islanders, totalling for six or more goals in two of their five games played.

Both teams have elite defensive units and goaltenders that helped them both place top three in the league for points with New York winning the Presidents Trophy. They also both placed top seven in goals against average this season with Carolina finishing with a 2.57 average that was fourth-best in the league.

The Over is listed at plus money and has a lot of people raving about these two offenses that have star players like New York with Artemi Panarin, who finished with nearly 50 goals and 120 points while Carolina will have him matched up against their European star in Sebastian Aho, who finished with 36 goals and 89 points.

According to Action Network, 57 per cent of betters are taking the Over at six goals for this matchup and I would have to agree as these two have totalled over this number in five of their last nine matchups against each other.

The Rangers and Hurricanes also finished seventh and eighth in goals per game average with rates at 3.39 and 3.38 respectively.

A $10 bet on this one would roll our money into $20 that we can build upon in the second round.
