The NHL isn’t the only hockey league in the world and sometimes hockey fans want to know about what the game looks like in other parts of the world like Slovakia, Poland and many others having professional hockey leagues or tournaments that you can bet on. It’s hard to go through the time of researching all of these leagues around the world so we did it for you. Here are some of the best picks from around the world for today.
World Junior Championship - Sweden vs Switzerland
The Finnish were finally the ones to break the tournament-hosting Swedes shutout streak, when they came out on top, 5-4 in a tight shootout win on New Years Eve. The Swedish defense has been excellent to get their streak in the first place shutting out Germany and Latvia with ease and back-to-back gold medal winning Canada.
They should have a relatively easy game with the one win Swiss but the only concern would be blowing them out. Lucky for us, the Swedish offense has been the most lethal with the fourth-most goals in the tournament so far with 17 and tied with Czechia.
Pick: Under 6.5 goals (-106)
Swedish Hockey League - Skelleftea AIK @ IF Malmo Redhawks
The Redhawks are home underdogs as they have a 9-3-4-13 record this season and place 11th out of 14 teams. Skelleftea AIK is slightly higher on the board with a 13-3-2-10 record and are currently fifth. The history of this one is very one-sided with Skelleftea winning eight of their last 12 matchups and four wins in their last six games at Malmo arena. The Redhawks also haven’t done much to defend their territory with eight wins in 15 home games this season. Skelleftea should come out on top with their sixth straight win over the Redhawks.
Pick: Skelleftea AIK moneyline (-139)
Germany Eishockey Liga 2 (DEL 2) - Bietigheim Steelers @ EV Landshut
Landshut are currently fourth in the DEL 2 with a 14-3-1-11 record with six wins in their last eight games. The Steelers on the other hand are having a forgettable season with a 8-5-1-18 record this season ranking last with four straight losses heading into this one. Landshut has four straight wins in this matchup, however the Steelers have had some success, winning the prior 14 straight matchups. This should be a close game with a lot of goals, as there’s been six or more goals in six of their last ten matchups. Landshut should take care of business at home in a high-scoring affair.
Pick: EV Landshut moneyline (-223), Over 5.5 goals (-154)
