2024 Stadium Series: New York Rangers @ New York Islanders

Both New York teams have struggling netminders with the Rangers Igor Shesterkin having a 6-5-1 record in his last 12 games and the Islanders’ Ilya Sorokin ranks 21st out of 27 goalies that have started at least 30 games in goals against average with 3.04 so far this season. The name-sac of these two netminders has the goal total at a very low six which is very doable considering the offensive explosion we saw in the Devils 6-3 win last night on the outdoor rink. The Rangers have also started to ignite their offense with the ninth-best scoring rate since mid-January as they’ve scored 3.42 goals per game. They are also undefeated in four outdoor game appearances and the Blueshirts should put the pressure on again in this one.

Pick: Rangers ML (-150), Over 5.5 goals (-125)

Arizona Coyotes @ Colorado Avalanche

The eight game losing streak for the Coyotes is only three away from breaking the record of most in a row and it doesn’t look pretty with matchups against the Avalanche this evening followed by the Oilers and Leafs. They play with aggression however and garnered respect from the Carolina Hurricanes with forward Jordan Martinook saying after their 5-1 win on Friday that they are a skilled team and played them very hard.

It would be absolutely shocking if the Coyotes pulled off the upset against the Avs but what we can bet on is that they will put the pressure on expected netminder for Colorado, Alexandar Georgiev. The Russian netminder has allowed the most goals in the league with 129 allowed so far this season and is six ahead of the next player in Juuse Saros who has 123 on the season. The Coyotes will be starving for a win and should get at least three past Georgiev as they’ve scored three or more against Colorado in three of their last four matchups.

Pick: Coyotes over 2.5 goals (-115)

Los Angeles Kings @ Pittsburgh Penguins

The Kings are finally starting to move in the right direction again as they have won four of their last five games with big wins against the Bruins, Devils and Oilers. Lucky for them, they also get to take on a Penguins team that has gone ice cold with just four wins in their last 12 games. The challenge for LA will be getting past the Penguins tough backend that always finds a way to shut down their opponents when playing at home as they average the fourth-fewest goals against per home game with an average of 2.36 so far this season.

Both teams have struggled to score with the Kings ranking 22nd and the Penguins ranking 28th in goals per game since mid-January. The total may look very low but all signs point to these two not putting too many pucks in the back of the net.

Pick: Under 5.5 goals (+100)
