The Avs average 4.27 goals per game at home while they average just 3.09 on the road this season

In their first matchup this season, the Red Wings broke a ten-game losing streak to the Avs and won their first game against Colorado at home since 2017. The Avs have long dominated this matchup and they will look to bounce back with a win at home, Wednesday night. These two have regularly played high-scoring games with seven or more goals in five of their last eight matchups, although their two most recent battles went under.

It should make for an exciting matchup that will have hockey fans on the edge of their seat and hockey betters sweating as they watch on for a lucrative payoff in this thrilling game. If you want to get in on all the action, here's a breakdown of the matchups with some insights for potential betting opportunities that could win you some cash. We are on a 9-4 run as of late as we hope to keep it going on Hump Day.

Pick: Over 6.5 goals (-115), Red Wings over 2.5 goals (-145)

The Avs have been an entirely different team at home than when they are on the road with a goals per home game average of 4.27 that massively outranks their road average of 3.09 this season. Their home record of 24-6-0 is also significantly better than their road record of 14-14-5 which ranks outside the top 14 in the league.

So the Red Wings are catching them in a much tougher position, although they shouldn’t be discounted as they are starting to heat up with six wins in their last eight games and have the fourth-best offense since the start of February, that is averaging 3.64 goals a game.

Colorado plays much better defensively at home, likely due to their consistent offensive pressure, that has them only allowing 2.60 goals per home game so far this season. The Wings will get an advantage however of Avs netminder Alexandar Georgiev starting to see some fatigue with eight starts over their last 12 games. It hasn’t been the best for his play as he has a 3.04 goals against average during that span.

The Wings should bring the heat and at least get three past Georgiev as before their last game, they scored three or more in six of their last eight games. With that in mind, the Avalanche will need to push the pace of their game and with their track record of scoring in bunches at home, it should culminate in an easy over in goals.
