This Saturday’s NHL slate is one of the quieter ones on the season due to American Thanksgiving, with only eight games on the schedule. But there are still some good bets that can be made. Here are some of the best plays that will hopefully help you profit on the U.S. holiday weekend.

Boston Bruins at New York Rangers

We start off the day with two of the top teams in the league going at it. The Bruins and Rangers have been phenomenal on the back end this season, ranking first and second, respectively, in goals against per game. It’s the kind of game where everyone will bet on the under, which brings down the line and is exactly when you want to bet the over. Over 6.5 has hit in five of the past six Rangers games and in five of the Bruins’ past seven games. There’s also been at least six goals in four of their past seven match-ups.

Montreal Canadiens at Los Angeles Kings

The Habs haven’t beaten the Kings without Carey Price since March 2010 — and have lost eight straight against Los Angeles when Price is not in net. Montreal has looked good as of late, beating teams like Boston and Detroit in overtime last week, but the Kings have looked even better, winning four in a row heading into this one. Los Angeles has the second-best goals-per-game average in the league (3.94). in other words, the Kings should beat the Canadiens with ease.

Buffalo Sabres at New Jersey Devils

The 175th meeting between these two should see goals, goals and more goals. Over 6.5 goals has hit in 10 of their past 15 match-ups and the Devils have been leaking in goals as they’re tied for the NHL’s second-worst goals against per game (4.00) since the start of November, as well they also have a 3-6-0 record so far this month. Taking the over looks really good in this one.

Toronto Maple Leafs at Pittsburgh Penguins

The Buds and Pens regularly play tight games. The Leafs played on Friday. Meanwhile, the Penguins look to bounce back as they’ve been heating up with six wins in their past nine and have significantly improved their defensive game. They should keep it close with the puck line being the best play and they could win as well.

Philadelphia Flyers at New York Islanders

A re-match of this past Wednesday’s game, where the Isles eked out a 3-2 victory, this should keep the betting lines close which makes the Islanders a good choice. The Flyers have a 2-7-5 in the past 14 games in this match-up, including eight straight losses at New York.

Vancouver Canucks at San Jose Sharks

The Canucks have beaten the Sharks in 11 straight match-ups, with the most notable game being a 10-1 whipping three weeks ago. Vancouver hasn’t slowed down, mostly due to a top-three offence and a top-10 defence. The Sharks are stuck in last place in both areas and have shown few signs of improving. The Canucks have covered the puck line in four straight match-ups and should do it again in this one.

Calgary Flames at Colorado Avalanche

The Avs may finally be rounding into form and teams should look out. They've averaged the most goals per game since the start of November and have six wins this month, all coming on the road. Calgary has only been able to beat the Avs in regulation once in their past 13 match-ups. The Flames have been improving, as they are top-10 in goals per game (3.50) in November and will try to keep the game close, but that doesn't seem likely.

Arizona Coyotes at Vegas Golden Knights

The Golden Knights were virtually unbeatable to start the season with a 11-0-1 record in their first 12 games. However, since their first regulation loss at the start of November, they’ve come down to earth with only three wins in their past eight games. They could use a win to get them back on track and what better way than against a Coyotes team that has lost nine straight times to against Vegas on the home. The Golden Knights on the puck line looks like the best play.
