The New York Rangers should come within at least a goal when taking one of the best teams in the NHL against the spread this season

The New York Rangers have lost three straight games and will attempt to get back in the win column Wednesday when taking on the Carolina Hurricanes, who are currently one of the best teams in the NHL against the spread with a 14-7 record. Despite this, there is some telling info that give us a lot of confidence that it shouldn't matter and that the Rangers should be very competitive in this game. So much so, we are willing to add the Rangers as our newest addition to the Pad Stack Challenge.

If you aren’t familiar, the Pad Stack Challenge is an open betting strategy that uses the concept of building our bank and rolling over our profits. We do this by stacking our winnings through well-researched picks given out daily that will hopefully build our bank.

All betting lines are from Bet365 and are subject to change. Hockey is a difficult sport to predict so please gamble responsibly.

Bet: Rangers +1.5 (-155)

The Blueshirts have been hard to watch lately with just six goals while allowing 14 over their last three games. They will get a chance to redeem themselves in a spot where many are doubting them with 85 per cent of moneyline bets being placed on Carolina. New York has been solid against the spread on the road this season with a 6-4 record.

The Rangers have also dominated this matchup as of late with 13 wins in their last 18 games versus the Hurricanes. During these games, the Rangers have the same record at 13-5-0 against the puck line, meaning when they beat Carolina, they do it convincingly. The Hurricanes are down two netminders with Frederik Andersen and Pyotr Kochetkov so they will likely look to Spencer Martin once again.

The former Mississauga Steelhead has seen his hardships this season with a 3.40 goals against average that is amplified by his eight goals allowed over his last two starts. The Rangers should take advantage of the Hurricanes injuries in net a score enough to keep them within one if not winning the game outright.

A $10 bet on the Rangers would bring our total to just over $16 heading into Thursday.
