The San Jose Sharks traded forward Mikael Granlund and defenseman Cody Ceci to the Dallas Stars on Saturday in return for a 2025 first-round pick and a 2025 conditional third-round pick. 

If the Stars do not make it to the Stanley Cup Final, the third-round pick will become a fourth-round pick.

The Stars could look to make more moves to bolster their roster as they attempt to make a deep playoff run. Dallas is listed with +900 odds to win the Stanley Cup and the second-highest odds to win the West at +400 trailing behind the Oilers.

Granlund, 32, was the Sharks' top scorer this season, recording 15 goals and 45 points in 52 games. Standing at 5-foot-10, the center is in the final year of a four-year, $20 million contract with a $5 million annual cap hit. The Finnish winger is set to become an unrestricted free agent at end of this season and will be a decent rental option for the Stars. 

Ceci, 30, has tallied four goals and 15 points across 54 games with the Sharks this season, averaging 21:46 in ice time. The 6-foot-3 right-handed defenseman is in the final year of a four-year, $13 million contract with a $3.25 million cap hit. The Ottawa native is also a rental as he will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
