From a betting standpoint, this move has interesting implications as Vancouver, is a team just on the verge of being a playoff contender. They came close to eliminating the Oilers last season in the second round but fell short.
This past season was a rollercoaster ride for Vancouver fans as the team was plagued with conspiracies and media drama. The team couldn't recover and missed the playoffs.
This move could be a signal to fans and betters that the Canucks will be aggressive in trying to get back into the playoff picture and their current betting odds at +5000 may be worth a longer look. When healthy and focused, Kane has the potential to be a difference-maker and if he finds quick chemistry with top forwards like Elias Pettersson, the Canucks’ attack becomes even more dangerous.
Kane missed the entire 2024–25 regular season due to abdominal, hip, and knee surgeries but returned for the playoffs, where he played 19 games. He posted six goals and six assists for 12 points along with a +4 rating, 32 penalty minutes and 45 shots on goal through 15:42 of average ice time per game.

For futures bettors looking for a high-upside play, now might be the time to buy in before the market adjusts. Kane’s presence could also impact player props once the season begins, especially if he’s placed in a scoring role or on the power play.
For the Oilers, this trade may be more about flexibility than firepower. Kane was a polarizing figure in Edmonton as he was productive at times, but also slowed by injuries, took bad penalties and struggled to find consistent production.
Offloading his cap hit gives the Oilers more room to maneuver as they try to reshape their roster following a run to the Stanley Cup Final. Bettors eyeing Edmonton at +750 for a third straight trip to the Finals and finally a cup win.
For bettors, this deal might not just affect the standings, it could shift the entire Western Conference betting landscape.
