Today's Most Valuable Bets: NHLToday's Most Valuable Bets: NHL

The NHL season is in full swing and we've got bets! While these aren't necessarily the locks to win, they are the lines with the most value that will provide the most winnings over the course of a season. The best bets are where you will find the locks. You can see what Kevin predicts for tonight's games here. All of these projections are model based and have at least 5% value attributed to them.

    Islanders/Devils 1st Period Under 1.5 (+110)

The Islanders haven't played a game with more than 5 goals yet this year. They surrender the least shot attempts per game in the NHL and have yet to surrender a goal in the first period. The Devils have not scored a first period goal through three games this season, but surrendered two to Florida. Florida's offense rates better than the Islanders, while the Devils meet an excellent defensive team. The model projected 1.3 goals in the first period of tonight's matchup. The line has implied odds of 47% to hit the under, while the model sees it closer to 58%. With significant value on the under, there is value on any line at plus-money.

Blake Coleman Over 2.5 Shots (+130)

Coleman finds himself on a line with Backlund, one of the best two-way forwards in the game. Coleman's speed, tenacity and willingness to go to the middle of the ice have resulted in 18 shot attempts and 10 shots on goal. Coleman is sixth in average ice-time among Calgary forwards 10 scoring chances at all strengths this season. Against a young team, Coleman will look to use his speed and strength to win puck battles and take pucks to the net. The model projects Coleman to have 2.9 shots, while the odds imply a 43% chance of hitting.
