The Bruins suffered another ugly loss against the Kraken.
After losing 8-1 to the Winnipeg Jets on Dec. 10, the Boston Bruins' goal was to bounce back with a strong effort against the Seattle Kraken last night. Unfortunately, the Bruins had another poor game, as they fell to the Kraken by 5-1 final score.
With this, the Bruins have been outscored 13-2 in their first two games of their road trip. They also now have a minus-23 goal differential for the season. The only team with a worse one in the Eastern Conference is the Montreal Canadiens (minus-29 goal differential).
These two blowout losses are undoubtedly challenging to see. This is especially so when noting that the Bruins appeared to turn a corner before them, as they won four straight games. However, they are again having immense trouble against teams in the playoff hunt.
Bruins vs. Kraken Discipline troubles again played a role in this latest loss, as the Kraken scored a power-play goal just 24 seconds into the first period. The Bruins were never able to get a lead after this and also quickly allowed the Kraken's second goal of the game five minutes into the first.
While the Bruins made it a 2-1 game in the second period, they again had their most significant struggles in the third. After allowing five third-period goals to the Jets in their last contest, they gave up three in the third against Seattle.
The Bruins will now look to bounce back against a tough Vancouver Canucks team tomorrow night (Dec. 14).
