Ex-Bruins Forward Has Spirited Fight In Debut With New Team cover image

This former Bruins forward is already providing some toughness to his new team.

On Jan. 16, the Boston Bruins traded forward Jeffrey Viel to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for a 2026 fourth-round pick. With this move, the Bruins freed up a roster spot and landed a draft pick, while the Ducks added more toughness to their roster.

Viel made his debut for the Ducks on Jan. 17 against the Los Angeles Kings. Without much surprise, the former Bruins forward ended up dropping the gloves in his Ducks debut.

During the first period of the contest, Viel fought Kings forward Samuel Helenius in a spirited scrap. The 6-foot-1 Viel handled himself against the 6-foot-5 Helenius, as he connected on multiple punches.

It's no secret that Viel likes to drop the gloves, and he certainly showed Ducks fans this in his debut with the club. He should continue to provide the Ducks with plenty of energy and grit whenever he is in the lineup, much like he did during his time with the Bruins.

In 15 games over two seasons with the Bruins, Viel recorded zero points, 39 hits, and 44 penalty minutes. He also played in 68 games for the Providence Bruins this past season, where he posted 13 goals, 24 assists, 37 points, 148 penalty minutes, and a plus-17 rating.
