You know what you'll get with every box of Upper Deck Flagship Hockey products: six Young Guns and a collection of other inserts. The key chasers of Upper Deck 2024-25 Upper Deck Series Two Hockey are Macklin Celebrini of the San Jose Sharks and Matvei Michkov of the Philadelphia Flyers.

Rip a box and hope to find a nice Celebrini or Michkov Young Guns. Rinse and repeat until you do.

There is a similar feeling of ripping Upper Deck 2023-24 Series Two Hockey. Everyone was looking for Connor Bedard Young Guns and the fallback was Leo Carlsson.

Upper Deck 2024-25 Series Two Hockey released Wednesday, Mar. 5 and retails for $140 USD per box.

Collectors can expect six Young Guns, One Outburst Parallel, four Canvas cards, three Young Guns renewed, and 17 other inserts.   

The Good

No Connor Bedard Tax! Once again, no Bedard tax! Everyone rejoice, Upper Deck Flagship products are affordable once again!

The upside of Upper Deck 2024-25 Series Two Hockey is massive. The hunt is a Deluxe /250, UD Exclusives /100, Red Outburst /25, High Gloss /10, or the elusive Gold Outburst 1/1 of any Young Guns or Young Guns Renewed insert.

Finding those parallels is no easy task.

Connor McDavid anchors Upper Deck 2024-25 Series Two Hockey's Young Guns Renewed insert set. Auston Matthews and Jack Eichel also have Young Guns Renewed hits.

Upper Deck offers two short print insert sets to chase. Connor Bedard, Connor McDavid, and Celebrini anchor the Incarnations insert set in Upper Deck 2024-25 Series Two Hockey. Upper Deck did not release the pack odds of hitting an Incarnations insert, but they seem to appear one in every five cases. 

Nathan MacKinnon and Leon Draisaitl headline the Fanimation checklist. Similar to Incarnations, the pack odds are unannounced and hitting one is nearly impossible. 

Maybe related, it would be nice to know the pack odds of hitting all inserts and parallels. And while we are ranting, it would also be nice to know the total amount of boxes produced for all products.

What Could Be Better

This is the monotonous portion of the headline. Ripping case after case of Upper Deck 2024-25 Series Two Hockey is like the Bill Murray classic movie, "Groundhog Day." 

Every case is exactly the same. The hope is finding two or more Celebrini and Michkov Young Guns and landing one key parallel of a Young Guns or Young Guns renewed.

One can only take so much of Ned Ryerson reminding them to watch that first step because it is a doozy so many times.

Is it a bad thing that Upper Deck 2024-25 Series Two Hockey is very predictable? No, not really at least. This is exactly what experienced hockey collectors expect when they open a box or case of Upper Deck Flagship Hockey. Collectors new to hockey may not find it exciting. 

As mentioned above, finding parallels of the key Young Guns or Young Guns renewed is like finding a needle in a haystack. However, that invigorating moment of finding that Michkov Young Guns High Gloss /10 is what brings us back for more.

Upper Deck did a lot right with 2024-25 Series Two Hockey. Starting with the $140 price per box. The potential return seems fair when factoring the price per box.

Upper Deck 2023-24 Series Two Hockey was not a winnable product unless you hit a Bedard Young Guns. The latest installment is winnable by virtue of Michkov's Young Guns selling well on eBay. 

Upper Deck 2024-25 Series Two Hockey received a score of 6.1 on Gawlik's scale. There is the right blend of excitement, value, and eye appeal to those who do not buy sports card boxes hoping to land a big hit to sell immidiatly.

Collectors and gamblers can equally enjoy the product.

In honor of actor Stephen Tobolowsky, make sure to shout out "Bing" when you hit your first Celebrini Young Guns!
