The sports card industry is a fascinating one, and there's always a lot for anticipation about firsts.
Whether it's the first-ever card of a player, their first on-card autograph, their first card after being traded to a specific team, etc.
Another first that garner's attention in the hobby, is the first registered sale of a key card.
This week, we saw the first sale of Ivan Demidov's Young Guns PSA 10 graded rookie card, which sold for $1000 USD ($1,398 CAD).

The sale was made on eBay and verified through Terapeak, eBay's transparency service that shows which sold items have actually been bought and paid for.
That is a big number, but not all that surprising.
Being first to market is always an advantage because it allows you to set the price. This hobby is all about supply and demand, after all, and there isn't much supply of his PSA 10 Young Guns.
As of October 28th, the PSA registry states that only 15 Demidov Young Guns have been graded by their company, with only seven of them receiving the desired "10" grade.
It's no surprise that the value of this card is over-inflated and selling for four figures to start, considering there's very little supply and extremely high demand
The product is less than three weeks old, and we've already seen the ungraded Demidov Young Guns drop from $350 on release to roughly $225 CAD. As more and more copies make their way through the grading system and out into the market, the supply will soon catch up to the demand, which will suppress the value of this highly desired card.
