Jason Robertson is one of the Dallas Stars best players, and despite a swirling of trade rumors throughout the off-season, Robertson was just recently ranked right next to legendary left wing Alex Ovechkin.

The NHL Network released their annual rankings of wingers based on their 2024-25, and Robertson came in ranked 16th, just below Ovechkin. Ovechkin broke Wayne Gretzky's record for most career goals scored in the NHL last season, but is entering his final season in the league before most likely ending his career back in Russia.

Robertson got off to an extremely sluggish start while recovering from off-season surgery, and only had nine goals in the 2024 part of the season. Once he got going, Robertson amassed 80 points on the season, good for third on the team, and played in all 82 regular season games. Unfortunately for the team, the 82nd game resulted in an injury that took him out of the first playoff round and hampered him for the rest of the run that ended in the Western Conference Final. He managed to pick up the goal scoring pace at the very end of the Edmonton series, but it was too little, too late.

There are still some question marks to be answered for Dallas when it comes to Robertson as he fights for a new contract after this season. The team might hope that he performs up to his former 100 point season standard, but that might also price out the possibility of signing him long-term with other contracts already on the books.

Despite Robertson's less-than-perfect past few seasons, the young American winger is still plenty talented enough to crack the NHL Network's top-20 list for yet another season.
