The Adirondack Thunder and Florida Everblades are set to clash in the 2024 Eastern Conference Finals for the right to play in the ECHL Kelly Cup Finals.
Adirondack is back in the Eastern Conference Finals for the second time in franchise history and the first time since the 2018 Kelly Cup Playoffs. That year, the Thunder fell in five games to the Everblades.
Meanwhile, Florida has become quite accustomed to being in this spot, returning to the Eastern Conference Finals for the third consecutive season. The defending champions seek to become the first team to win three straight Kelly Cup titles.
Adirondack and Florida met six times during the regular season, with the Everblades going 4-1-1 in the series.
How They Got Here
Before knocking off the Norfolk Admirals four games to two in the North Division Finals, the Thunder defeated the Maine Mariners in seven games in the first round of the playoffs.
Against the Admirals, Adirondack overcame a 2-0 deficit and roared back with four straight wins to punch their ticket to the Eastern Conference Finals. The Thunder will have had two days off before resuming play against the Everblades.
Meanwhile, Florida defeated the Jacksonville Icemen in the first round. After falling behind three games to one, the Everblades took the next three games and the series. In the South Division Finals, Florida knocked off the Orlando Solar Bears in five games.
The Everblades took a 3-0 series lead before Orlando briefly staved off elimination in Game 4. Florida wrapped up the series in Game 5 on Bobo Carpenter's game-winning goal in overtime.
