Jules Boscq scored the game-winner in overtime for the Heartlanders in a big road victory over Toledo.

The Iowa Heartlanders came into Saturday night’s road contest with Toledo 10-1-6 in one-goal games. They notched another win in that category Saturday with a 4-3 overtime victory over the Walleye.

Iowa had to claw back from a two-goal deficit, but defenseman Jules Boscq scored the game-winner on a snapper from the left post at 1:45 of OT to make the comeback complete.

Matt Sop, who tallied a goal and an assist on the night, picked up his helper on the goal. Will Calverley scored twice for the Heartlanders.

The Walleye jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening period, only to see Iowa storm back with three unanswered goals of their own.

Calverley redirected a left-point shot from Bogdans Hodass to bring the Heartlanders to within one. It was Calverley’s 10th goal of the season, a career-high; Gavin Hain picked up the secondary helper.

Calverley struck again on a similar play, this time on a redirect in front of the net. Kyle Masters took a shot from the right point that caught Calverley’s stick and went in with 6:20 gone in the middle frame.

Sop then notched his 10th of the season to put Iowa in the lead 3-2 late in the second. The Heartlanders kept the puck in the zone for over a minute before Sop finally scored. Will Zmolek and Zeteny Hadobas each earned assists.

Toledo tied the score 3-3 with 4:23 left in the third period to force the extra frame.

On Boscq’s overtime winner, Sop juked in from the right circle and found Boscq racing to the far post. Sop centered the puck and Boscq notched his seventh goal of the season and his second overtime-winning goal.

William Rousseau made 18 saves to get the victory for Iowa. Carter Gylander, who came into the night seventh in the ECHL among rookie goaltenders with a .918 save percentage, stopped 23 shots in the loss.
