The Steelheads have only missed the postseason once since 1997.

The Idaho Steelheads are playoff bound once more.

The Steelheads (40-16-2-1, 83pts) defeated the Trois-Rivières Lions (23-26-3-3, 52pts) Wednesday night by a final score of 2-1 in overtime when Francesco Arcuri scored 81 seconds into the extra frame.

Idaho clinched a playoff spot with the effort, increasing their record to (40-16-2-1) through 59 games. Last year they locked up a playoff spot on Mar. 10 in Game 56 (44-9-1-2).

Under Head Coach Everett Sheen the Steelheads finished first in their division in 2022-23, unseating Utah, Allen and Toledo in the Kelly Cup playoffs before being swept by the back-to-back Cup winning Florida Everblades. The club has only missed the post-season once (COVID-years not withstanding) since entering the league in 1997.

The Steelheads join Kansas City as the only clubs in the ECHL this far this season to secure a playoff berth.
