Tulsa is best in the West after edging the Kansas City Mavericks at home in the biggest Wednesday night matchup in the ECHL.

Prior to Wednesday, the Tulsa Oilers hadn’t won a game this season when they’ve scored fewer than four goals.
They only needed three on Thanksgiving Eve to edge the Kansas City Mavericks 3-2 at home to pick up their third straight victory. The Oilers head into Turkey Day first in the ECHL's Western Conference, moving their record to 11-4-1. With the loss, Kansas City falls to 9-5-2.
Fans had barely settled into their seats at the BOK Center when the Oilers struck furst. Less than two minutes into the game, Josh Nelson set up Kylor Wall right off a draw. Wall fired a snap shot over Mavericks goaltender Victor Ostman’s shoulder for his first of the season and a 1-0 lead.
At the 15:18 mark of the first, Solag Bakich made it 2-0 Tulsa with a wrister from the high slot for his second goal of the season.
Max Andreev tried to get Kansas City back in the game with 48 seconds left in the period. Andreev fired a nice backhander to cut the Oilers’ lead to 2-1.
Luke Loheit tied the game 2-2 7:05 into the middle frame, scoring a goal in his fourth straight game.
The Oilers regained the lead when Jack Clement picked up his first professional goal, rifling a slapshot past Ostman with 6:16 left in the second. It would prove to be the deciding goal in the game.
Both teams managed six shots apiece in the third period, but neither could muster a goal. They’ll meet again on Friday at the BOK Center, with puck drop set for 7:05 Pm CT.
Fans are encouraged to bring a stuffed animal to Friday’s game and toss them on the ice when the Oilers score their first goal. The first 1,000 fans will receive a free Oilers beanie.
