The 6-foot, 185-pound forward played 23 games with the Admirals before finishing last season in Germany. Now, he's back for 2024-25.

The Norfolk Admirals announced they have signed forward Justin Young to a standard player contract for the 2024-25 season.

The 26-year-old Alberta native was acquired by the Admirals at the Future Considerations Deadline in June 2023, then signed with Norfolk the following August. He started the 2023-24 season with the Admirals, tallying 11 points in 23 games, including a point in his first six games.

Young spent the remainder of the season with Herner EV 2007 (Germany3), scoring 17 points in 14 games. He added two points in five playoff contests.

"I loved my time in Norfolk and playing in front of the fans at the Scope in the electric atmosphere," Young said after the signing. "I am very excited to build off of the finish the team had last year. I can't wait to get started once again."

Young's first professional season was spent in the ECHL in 2022-23 with the Allen Americans. In 51 regular-season games, he potted one goal and six assists for seven points. He played in 10 Kelly Cup Playoff games with the club and scored three points.

Young signed his first pro contract with Allen in 2021-22 after completing his collegiate career at American International College. During his senior season at AIC, he finished second on the team in points (31), assists (19) and plus/minus (+18). He also finished third on the team with 12 goals. Young was a part of two conference championship teams during his four seasons at AIC.

The Admirals have three defensemen and six forwards on their roster as of August 14. The club will open its season at home October 18 against the Adirondack Thunder.
