    The Toledo Walleye right winger scored 17 points in 12 games during the month of January.

    Toledo Walleye forward Brandon Hawkins won the ECHL MVP award in 2023-24. This season, he’s certainly on track to win another.

    The 30-year-old right winger leads the ECHL with 58 points and 216 shots on goal. He’s also tied for the league lead in goals (25) and tied for third in assists (33) in 45 games with the Walleye this season.

    On Tuesday, Hawkins was selected as the Warrior ECHL Player of the Month for January. The native of Macomb Township, Mich. has now won the honor three times during his time in the league.

    In January, Hawkins scored 17 points (10-7-17) in 12 games. He notched at least one point in 10 of the 12 games, including five multi-point outings.

    The 5-foot-10, 198-pound right-shot forward tallied four assists in a 4-3 win at Bloomington against the Bison on Jan. 8, and had two-point games at Fort Wayne Jan. 17, Jan. 26 vs. Iowa and Jan. 31 against Fort Wayne.

    In 317 ECHL games with Toledo, Fort Wayne and wheeling, Hawkins has totaled 368 points (178-190-368). He added seven points (3-4-7) in 28 career American Hockey League games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Rochester, Cleveland and Chicago.

    During his MVP season in 2023-24, Hawkins posted 93 points (40-53-93) in 70 games.

    The Walleye will be back in action Friday in Fort Wayne to take on the Komets. Puck drop is set for 7:35 Pm ET.
