As the Trenton Ironhawks continue to march into the 2026-2027 season for their inaugural year, they add yet another key piece behind the bench with Brett Boeing as the Assistant Coach next to Head Coach Chuck Weber. Boeing comes to Trenton with a development mindset, hockey operations experience, and understanding of what it takes to be in the professional world of hockey as a player.
Boeing's journey in hockey mirrors the path that many players hope to follow. Boeing played in the USHL with the Dubuque Fighting Saints and then went on to play at the collegiate level at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. After his collegiate career ended, Boeing headed to the professional ranks.
Boeing played with the Toledo Walleye, Reading Royals, and the Wichita Thunder. In 164 ECHL games, he notched 38 goals and 49 assists. He started his coaching career in the ECHL with the Tahoe Knight Monsters in their inaugural season. Recently, he served as the assistant coach for the Iowa Heartlanders. His playing background gives a valuable perspective when working with players new to the professional world.
Piecing together a team from scratch isn't easy, and Boeing's addition to Trenton will complement Head Coach Chuck Weber's coaching success. Boeing adds a modern approach and experience in helping prospects prepare for the next level.
