The City of Fort Myers officially proclaimed June 8, 2024 as "Florida Everblades Day" at a recent City Council meeting

The City of Fort Myers has recognized the Florida Everblades' historic achievement of becoming the first team in ECHL history to win three consecutive Kelly Cup championships.

At a City Council meeting earlier this week, City of Fort Myers Mayor Kevin Anderson, along with Florida Everblades Head Coach & General Manager Brad Ralph and Vice President of Business Development & Broadcasting Mike Kelly, made a presentation, proclaiming June 8, 2024, as "Florida Everblades Day."

Of course, June 8, 2024 was when the Everblades defeated the Kansas City Mavericks 4-3 in overtime to secure the franchise's third straight championship and fourth overall. Everblades forward Matt Wedman scored the game-winner just 3:38 into the extra session.

Florida defeated Kansas City in five games, with their only blemish coming in Game 2 of the series.

Prior to the Kelly Cup Finals, the Florida Everblades overcame a 3-1 series deficit to top the Jacksonville Icemen in the first round of the playoffs to advance to the South Division Finals.

There, Florida knocked off the Orlando Solar Bears in five games. After the Everblades took the first three games of the series, the Solar Bears briefly staved off elimination with a win in Game 4 before Florida wrapped up the series in Game 5.

In the Eastern Conference Finals, Florida took Games 1, 3, 4, and 6 of the series to advance to the Kelly Cup Finals for the third consecutive year and the seventh time in franchise history.
