Allen Americans forward Andrew Nielsen will miss Saturday's game in Utah.

The ECHL Department of Player Safety on Saturday announced that Allen’s Andrew Nielsen has been suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #71, Allen at Utah, on Nov. 1.

Nielsen is fined and suspended under Rule #28 – Supplementary Discipline as the result of an unpenalized cross-checking infraction at 12:18 of the first period.

Nielsen will miss Allen’s Saturday game at Utah. Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player’s Hardship Fund.

Before his penalty, Nielsen contributed an assist in the Americans’ lone goal of the night, as his shot was redirected by rookie forward Liam Gorman for a 1-0 lead.

The 2024-25 season has been a struggle for the Americans, who come into Saturday’s game last in the Mountain Division at 0-4-1. The offense has been limited to one goal or less in three of the team’s five games.

Allen had a total of eight penalties in Friday’s 5-1 loss to the Grizzlies, but held Utah to just one power-play goal. The Americans have not scored a power-play goal since the opening game of the season against the Tulsa Oilers, and rank 28th in the ECHL at 6.3% (1-for-16).
