Twenty years from now, when your local trivia night asks, "Who was the Tahoe Lake Monsters' first head coach?" You will know the answer to be Alex Loh.

The Knight Monsters, introduced as the ECHL's 29th team in November, formally appointed Loh as the franchise's first bench boss on Wednesday. The 39-year-old is no stranger to the ECHL, having served in a coaching capacity in the league since the 2015-16 season.

Most recently, Loh was an assistant coach with the Savannah Ghost Pirates before serving as the team's interim coach from February 1 to the regular-season finale.

Prior to the Ghost Pirates, the Morrisville, Vermont, native was with the Adirondack Thunder, initially serving as an assistant coach before being promoted to head coach and director of operations before the 2018-19 campaign.

“We are very excited to welcome Alex Loh to the Knight Monsters family,” said Knight Monsters Co-Owner David Hodges. “Alex’s experience and familiarity with the league makes him a perfect fit for our organization as we head into our inaugural season.”

The Tahoe Knights Monsters became the latest team to fill their head coaching vacancy, leaving only the Bloomington Bison and Worcester Railers. However, the Bison will be introducing their first head coach as well as their NHL affiliation at a special event at Grossinger Motors Arena on Thursday morning.

Tahoe has yet to announce its NHL affiliation.
