Discover the ECHL's brightest rookies. Explosive scorers, poised defensemen, and a standout goalie have already redefined the league's landscape.
The next wave of ECHL talent has officially arrived.
On Wednesday, the league unveiled its 2025–26 All-Rookie Team, highlighting a class of first-year players who didn’t just adjust to the professional level; they thrived in it. From dynamic scorers to poised defensemen and a standout netminder, this year’s group reflects both high-end skill and immediate impact across the league. Let's look at the team.
On Forward:
Danny Dzhaniyev
At the forefront is Utah Grizzlies forward Danny Dzhaniyev, whose 73-point campaign established him as one of the most dangerous offensive rookies in the ECHL this season. Combining vision with finishing ability, Dzhaniyev proved to be more than just a contributor — he became a focal point of Utah’s attack and a consistent difference-maker night after night.
Jackson Jutting
Joining him up front is Kansas City Mavericks forward Jackson Jutting, who carved out a reputation as a pure goal scorer. His 30 goals led all rookies, showcasing a shoot-first mentality paired with the ability to find soft spots in coverage.
Ryan Kirwan
Among the league’s most well-rounded rookies, Cincinnati Cyclones forward Ryan Kirwan quietly put together an impressive debut season. His ability to read the play and create opportunities for both himself and his linemates allowed him to impact games in multiple ways, while his near point-per-game pace highlighted a level of consistency that’s rare for a first-year pro. Rather than relying on one dimension, Kirwan’s all-around offensive game made him a key piece for Cincinnati and a deserving selection to the ECHL All-Rookie Team.
Brent Johnson
On the blue line, offensive production defined the selections. Wheeling Nailers defenseman Brent Johnson emerged as one of the most productive defensemen in the league, totaling 53 points in 70 games. His ability to drive play from the back end and contribute in all situations made him an essential piece for Wheeling.
Ben Meehan
Alongside him, Reading Royals defenseman Ben Meehan delivered a similarly impressive season. With 46 points in 69 games, Meehan displayed strong puck-moving ability and offensive instincts, reinforcing the growing trend of defensemen playing a more dynamic role in today’s game.
T. J. Semptimphelter
In goal, Atlanta Gladiators netminder T.J. Semptimphelter stood above the rest. Posting a 2.28 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage, he provided stability and consistency in the crease. His performance not only anchored Atlanta but also underscored his ability to handle a significant workload as a rookie.
What stands out about this year’s All-Rookie Team isn’t just the numbers; it’s the immediate influence these players had on their respective teams. Whether it was driving offense, logging key minutes, or delivering timely saves, each member of this group stepped into the league and made an impact from the start.
As the ECHL continues to serve as a proving ground for future NHL and AHL talent, this class represents a promising glimpse into what’s ahead. For these six players, the All-Rookie Team honor is just the beginning of what could be long professional careers.
