ECHL's All-Time Penalty Minute Leader Hunt Leads Busy Day of Signings

Training camps for clubs across the ECHL kick off tomorrow, and teams are shoring up their lineups with a glut of signings.

Chiefly among the major signings across the league was the addition of the all-time league-leading penalty minute holder Garet Hunt to the South Carolina Stingrays.

Hunt, 35, has played 899 professional hockey games over 15 seasons. He has spent 12 seasons in the ECHL with the Stockton Thunder, Alaska Aces, Jacksonville Icemen, and Wheeling Nailers. In 779 ECHL games, Hunt has accumulated 272 points (114 goals, 158 assists) and 2,811 penalty minutes. He has the highest all-time penalty minute total in the ECHL.

Elsewhere, the Reading Royals locked down defenseman Adam Brubacher, who has logged 53 points across 99 pro games across the AHL and ECHL. Brubacher split time last season between the Fort Wayne Komets and AHL's Bakersfield Condors.

The Wheeling Nailers also added some skill on the back end with the addition of blueliner Phil Beaulieu. He enters his fourth year as a pro, having amassed 78 points across 141 ECHL games with the Worcester Railers and Allen Americans.

Keeping pace, the Kalamazoo Wings inked veteran forward Brent Raedeke and rookie goaltender Trevor Babin have signed ahead of the 2023-24 Training Camp.

Raedeke, 33, returns to North America after spending the last ten seasons competing in Germany's Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). The Regina, SK-born forward played for Iserlohn from 2012 through 2015 and again from 2020 through 2023. He registered three goals, eleven assists, and 26 PIMs for the Roosters in 2022-23.

Babin, 24, will make his professional debut with Kalamazoo this season. The righthand-catching netminder spent 2022-23 with the FPHL’s Motor City Rockers, posting a 20-12-0 (3.15 GAA, .915 SV%) record in 37 appearances. Babin also started one game at the SPHL level for Knoxville last season.

Finally, the Idaho Steelheads added three names to their roster with the additions of forwards Daniel Hardie and Nick Nardella and defenseman Seamus Donohue.
