Orlando Solar Bears goaltender Ryan Fanti has been on a roll lately, and the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League have been paying attention.
On Thursday, the Solar Bears announced that Fanti has been recalled by the Crunch.
Additionally, Orlando announced the signing of goalie Ty Taylor to an ECHL Standard Player Contract (SPC).
The 25-year-old Fanti has won eight of his last nine ECHL starts, including a 26-save performance in a 4-1 win over the Jacksonville Icemen Tuesday night.
Fanti, a Thunder Bay, Ont. native, has appeared in 24 games with Orlando this season, posting an 11-10-2 record with a 2.84 goals-against average and .906 save percentage. He was named ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Jan. 6-12.
The former Minnesota-Duluth Bulldog has spent the past three seasons in the Edmonton Oilers organization with the AHL’s Bakersfield Condors and ECHL’s Fort Wayne Komets.
In 75 ECHL games, the 6-foot-3, 198-pound netminder has a 35-32-3 mark with a 3.12 GAA and .902 SP. He signed a one-year AHL contract with the Crunch in the summer of 2024.
The 25-year-old Taylor has appeared in 16 games with the Evansville Thunderbolts of the SPHL this season. He went 6-6-3 with a 2.27 GAA and .931 SP.
The 6-foot-4, 200-pound native of Richmond, British Columbia returns to the Solar Bears for the second time this season. He appeared in one prior game with the club during the 2021-22 season.
In 33 SPHL games spanning two seasons, Taylor is 11-14-3 with a 2.50 GAA and .921 SP. He also spent one season in the EIHL with the Glasgow Clan, playing in 17 games.
Prior to his professional career, Taylor spent three seasons playing college hockey at the University of New Hampshire, where he was teammates with current Solar Bears Ara Nazarian and Ryan Verrier as well as former Solar Bears Rich Boyd, Eric Esposito and Kohei Sato. He also spent the 2021-22 season at MacEwan University (USports).
The Tampa Bay Lightning selected Taylor in the seventh round (214th overall) of the 2018 NHL Draft. The club later traded him to the Anaheim Ducks and then to the Oilers in March 2024.
