

The Utah Grizzlies have announced the signing of forward Blake Wells, who will begin his first full season as a pro in West Valley City.
The 6-foot-2 native of Blackie, Alberta made his professional hockey debut with the Grizzlies on March 29 against the Idaho Steelheads, and appeared in three games.
Wells began his collegiate career at UMass-Lowell from 2019-23. In four seasons, he totaled 7 goals and 11 assists for 18 points and a +13 combined rating. He also served as an assistant captain for the team in 2022-23 and was named to the Hockey East All Academic Team as a freshman.
Wells transferred to American International College (AIC) for the 2023-24 season, scoring 10 points (4-6-10) with a +3 rating over 32 games that season.
In junior hockey, Wells played two seasons with the Okotoks Oilers of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL). In 2018-19, he totaled 32 points (15-17-32) in 45 games and 24 points (10-14-24) in 49 games the previous season.
As the Grizzlies prepare to kick off their 30th season, they have eight forwards and one defenseman signed as of August 19. The forwards are: Aaron Aragon, Dylan Fitze, Cole Gallant, Jack Jacome, Luke Manning, Mick Messner, Max Neill, and Wells. Kabore Dunn is the lone blueliner signed to date.
