
The Jacksonville Icemen have agreed to terms with defensemen Dilan Peters and Carter Allen for the upcoming season.
Peters and Allen both have ECHL experience. In 31 games from 2022-24, the 23-year-old Peters collected five assists to go along with 41 penalty minutes in stints with the Wheeling Nailers, Newfoundland Growlers, Reading Royals and Indy Fuel. He also appeared in four games with the SPHL's Birmingham Bulls last season.
The Sarnia, Ontario resident played two seasons of junior hockey in the NAHL, registering five points (1-4-5) with 106 penalty minutes with the Shreveport Mudbugs and St. Cloud Norsemen from 2019-21. At 6-foot-6, 218 pounds, Peters gives Jacksonville size and muscle on the blueline.
The 27-year-old Allen spent last season overseas with the Coventry Blaze of the EIHL, recording six assists in 45 games. He potted a goal and two assists for three points in 27 ECHL contests with the Cincinnati Cyclones and South Carolina Stingrays during the 2022-23 season.
In 2021-22, the Lambton Shores, Ontario resident collected 10 assists with 58 penalty minutes in 63 games with the Stingrays. In three collegiate seasons with SUNY-Oswego from 2017-20, the 6-foot-0, 205-pound defender scored 22 points (4-18-22) with 79 penalty minutes
To date, the Icemen have five defensemen and eight forwards on their roster as they prepare to open the 2024-25 season against the Kelly Cup Champion Florida Everblades October 19.
