Kalamazoo's Tanner Sorenson has been named ECHL Plus Performer for December, while Kansas City's Jacob Hayhurst and Worcester's John Muse have earned weekly honors.

Kalamazoo Wings’ forward Tanner Sorenson is the AMI Graphics ECHL Plus Performer of the Month for December after leading the league with a plus-minus rating of +13 during the month. Elsewhere, Jacob Hayhurst of the Kansas City Mavericks is the Inglasco ECHL Player of the Week for Dec. 27-31, while John Muse of the Worcester Railers is the Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the same period. For Muse, it is the third time in his career that he has received the weekly honor. Full releases below:

Sorenson posted an even or better rating in eight of his 13 games in December, highlighted by tying an ECHL season-high with a +6 on Dec. 8 against Iowa, as well as a +4 on Dec. 31 against Indy. 

A native of Anchorage, Alaska, Sorenson leads the K-Wings this season with a +12 rating while adding 10 points (4g-6a) in 20 games. The 30-year-old has recorded 228 points (91g-137a) in 311 career ECHL games with Kalamazoo and Alaska. He has added two assists in 12 career games with Utica of the American Hockey League and 36 points (18g-18a) in 57 career games in leagues in Switzerland and the United Kingdom. 

Prior to turning pro, Sorenson tallied 35 points (18g-17a) in 104 career collegiate games at Michigan State University.

Muse went 2-0-0 with one shutout, a 0.50 goals-against average and a save percentage of .984 in two appearances at Reading last week.

The 35-year-old stopped all 28 shots in his Railers’ debut, a 5-0 win on Friday, before making 32 saves in a 2-1 victory on Sunday.

A native of East Falmouth, Massachusetts, Muse has appeared in 102 career ECHL games with Worcester, Wheeling, Reading. Elmira, Fort Wayne and Florida, compiling an overall record of 55-33-14 with six shutouts, a 2.81 goals-against average and a save percentage of .909. He has also posted a record of 93-63-10 in 184 career American Hockey League games with 11 shutouts, a 2.66 goals-against average and a save percentage of .914.

Prior to turning pro, Muse played four seasons at Boston College where he was a two-time National Champion (2008 and 2010) and set school records for saves (3,696) and games played (144).

Hayhurst scored six goals and added two assists for eight points in three games against Wichita last week.

The 26-year-old scored a goal in 5-2 win on Friday, notched a hat trick in a 6-0 victory on Saturday and posted four points (2g-2a) in a 9-2 win on Sunday.

Under contract to Coachella Valley of the American Hockey League, Hayhurst has 25 points (15g-10a) in 29 games with the Mavericks this season

A native of Mississauga, Ontario, Hayhurst has totaled 103 points (41g-62a) in 138 career ECHL games with Kansas City, Worcester, Greenville and Wheeling while adding seven points (2g-5a) in 31 career AHL games with Springfield and Hartford.

Prior to turning pro, Hayhurst posted 81 points (30g-51a) in 138 career collegiate games with R.P.I. and the University of Michigan.
