Fort Wayne signs one forward and offers tryouts to two other players.

The Fort Wayne Komets announced the signing of rookie forward Chase Bertholet for the upcoming season, while forward Max Johnson and defenseman Nicco Camazzola have agreed to tryouts with the club.

The 21-year-old Bertholet is fresh off an outstanding season with the WHL's Spokane Chiefs, scoring 24 goals and 47 assists for 71 points in 64 games.

Over his WHL career, the 5-foot-11 Pas, Manitoba native recorded 207 points (78-129-207) in 230 games. During the 2022-23 season, Bertholet was named to the WHL Second All-Star Team.

The 25-year-old Johnson played collegiate hockey with the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, scoring 83 points (51-32-83) in 80 games spanning three seasons.

Camazzola played 107 games in the WHL, all with Vancouver, potting three goals and six assists for nine points. He also had a 19-game stint in the Alberta Junior Hockey League last season and recorded 119 penalty minutes.

Camazzola bloodlines run deep in Fort Wayne. Nicco's father, is a former Komet defenseman who played for the club from 1984-90, collecting 518 penalty minutes in 103 games.
