
The South Carolina Stingrays find themselves in second place in the ECHL South Division, thanks to a three-game sweep last week. Kyler Kupka spearheaded the perfect week with five goals and two assists for seven points, extending his point streak to five games.
On Tuesday, Kupka was recognized as the Inglasco ECHL Player of the Week for Feb. 10-16.
The 25-year-old left-shot forward tallied a pair of goals and added an assist in a 5-3 victory at Savannah against the Ghost Pirates Feb. 13. He followed up that performance with a goal in a 3-1 win over Wheeling two days later, then added two more goals and an assist the next afternoon in a 5-4 overtime triumph over the Jacksonville Icemen.
Over his five-game point streak, Kupka has nine points (5-4-9). Two of his goals came on the power play, putting him in a tie for the league lead among rookies with nine power-play goals this season.
A native of Camrose, Alberta, Kupka also leads all ECHL rookies – and is tied for third overall – with 25 goals. He is second among first-year players,, and 10th overall, with 48 points in 47 games this season. His +22 plus/minus rating leads the team.
Kupka made his pro debut with the Stingrays late last season, recording four points (2-2-4) in seven games.
Prior to his professional career, Kupka tallied 85 points (32-53-85) in 85 collegiate games at St. Cloud State University. In 2023-24, he was a Hobey Baker Award nominee, recording 32 points (14-18-32) in 38 games.
The Stingrays continue their six-game homestand with their annual Education Day game on Wednesday against the Worcester Railers. Puck drop is set for 10:30 Am ET.
