Calvas has only been with Maine for about a month, as the club acquired him from the Kalamazoo Wings on Feb. 18 for a future consideration, completing a Dec. 30 trade with the Savannah Ghost Pirates.
The 26-year-old right-shot blueliner skated in eight games with the Mariners, registering one assist. He’s also played 22 games with the K-Wings this season. Orlando will be his eighth ECHL team.
Earlier this week, the Mariners signed defenseman Nate Schweitzer, who joins the club out of NCAA Division I Lake Superior State University.
The 23-year-old right-shot defenseman captained Benilde-St. Margaret’s School for two seasons and played for the Sioux Falls Stampede of the United States Hockey League. Originally from Champlin, MN, Schweitzer initially attended Colorado College, playing two seasons there from 2021-23 before transferring to Lake Superior State for his final two seasons.
In 2024-25, Schweitzer was Lake Superior State’s top-scoring defenseman, as he posted 18 points (3-15-18) in 34 games.
The Mariners are on the road this weekend, visiting the Adirondack Thunder in Glens Falls on Friday and Saturday night. Puck drops for both contests are set for 7 Pm ET.
