The Newfoundland Growlers added three new additions to their blueline ahead of the 2023-24 season.

Hot off the heels of a pair of high-profile coaching staff signings, the Newfoundland Growlers announced Wednesday the signings of defencemen Cory Dennis, Alex Koopmeiners, and Jacob Modry ahead of the upcoming 2023-24 season.

Dennis, 26, split time last season between the Adirondack Thunder and the Pensacola Ice Flyers of the SPHL, suiting up in 19 games for the Thunder.

The Madison, Wisconsin native previously played four years of NCAA Div. III hockey with the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons.

Koopmeiners, 31, spent last year with the SPHL’s Macon Mayhem. The St. Cloud, Minnesota native also played four years at the NCAA Div. III level with two years at each of Concordia College and Gustavus Adolphus College.

Modry, 24, turned pro this past spring after a four-year collegiate career. Following two seasons with Merrimack College in NCAA Div. I, he transferred to SUNY-Plattsburgh for the next two seasons.

The El Segundo, California native played three games for the Savannah Ghost Pirates at the end of the 2022-23 regular season.
