Defenseman Trevor Thurston and forward Dallas Comeau are back with Tulsa this coming season.

With training camp just around the corner, the Tulsa Oilers continue to add to their 2024-25 roster with the return of two players.

The club announced the re-signings of defenseman Trevor Thurston and forward Dallas Comeau for the 2024-25 season.

The 24-year-old Thurston appeared in 19 games for the Oilers in his rookie season, notching one goal, one assist and 20 PIM.

Prior to coming to Tulsa, the 6-foot-2, 206-pound blueliner logged one goal and one assist and 22 PIM in12 games with the Reading Royals and four PIM in two games with Orlando.

Over his junior hockey career, Thurston appeared in 107 WHL games, posting 27 points (13-14-27) and 205 PIM with Kamloops, Lethbridge and Prince Albert. He also tallied 21 points (9-12-21) and 89 PIM in 48 games with Cape Brenton of the QMJHL.

Thurston’s size gives the Oilers a strong presence on the back end.

“He is at his best when playing physical,” Oilers head coach Rob Murray said. “He somehow has a knack for getting under opponent’s skin as well. Like most players, consistency is high on his list for improvement.”

Comeau, 26, returns to Tulsa after posting five assists and a plus-six rating in an injury-shortened 2023-24 season.

The Kelowna, British Columbia native joined the Oilers from Pensacola of the SPHL after collecting 18 points (9-9-18) in 22 games with the Ice Flyers. Comeau also added one goal and one assist in 11 ECHL games with Savannah.

The 5-foot-11, 181-pound two-way forward played his first professional season with Pensacola in 2022-23, contributing 25 points (11-14-25) in 38 games.

“Dallas came to us on a call up right after Christmas last year,” Murray said. “He was very dependable before sustaining his injury. He has a lot of the intangibles and implements the details of the game very well. He didn’t produce offensively last season and that really bothered him. He will be looking to round out his game this year.”

Comeau played four seasons of collegiate hockey at the University of Vermont after tallying 111 points (39-72-111) in 167 AJHL games with the Grand Prairie Storm.

Thurston and Comeau, both hailing from British Columbia, return for their first full, second partial seasons with the team following their rookie campaigns. While each had his bright spots, the Oilers are counting on them to make even bigger strides in 2024-25.

Thurston and Comeau join Duggie Lagrone, Tyler Poulsen, Josh Nelson, Austin Albrecht, Carter Popoff and Serron Noel as announced Oilers signings. Keep checking back with The Hockey News for the latest signings and other transactions.
