Owen Pederson broke a 1-1 tie at the 8:17 mark of the third period in the Maine Mariners' 2-1 win over the Adirondack Thunder on Tuesday.
With the win, the Mariners and Thunder will play in a decisive Game 7 on Wednesday. The winner will advance to the North Division Finals and face the Norfolk Admirals, who finished off Trois-Rivières in six games.
Mariners goaltender Brad Arvanitis made 27 saves on 28 shot attempts, marking the third time in this series that he has allowed only one goal.
Ethan Ritchie scored with just over three minutes remaining in the first period, pouncing on a rebound after Pederson's initial shot on net was turned aside.
Adirondack tied the game late in the second period on Tristan Ashbrook's fourth goal of the postseason.
However, the Mariners took the lead for good on a shorthanded breakaway by Pederson at the 8:17 mark of the final frame. The Maine forward's forecheck in the neutral zone forced a turnover, and he took the puck the other way, going backhand-forehand.
Arvanitis made one final save with 50.2 seconds left in regulation, sans stick, to preserve the win and force a Game 7 on Wednesday.
