    Scoring a goal per game is hard at any level, for any length of time.

    Rapid City Rush winger Blake Bennett potted 12 goals in 12 games during the month of February to go along with nine assists for a total of 21 points.

    On Tuesday, the ECHL rewarded the 26-year-old forward by naming him the Warrior Hockey ECHL Player of the Month for February. He’s really hit his stride in his first month back with the Rush, and the team has followed suit.

    Rapid City went 11-0-1 during the month and recorded its longest winning streak in 14 seasons.

    As February wore on, Bennett kept getting hotter. He ended the month on a four-game goal streak and 11-game point streak. As of March 4, both streaks are still intact.

    Bennett recorded three multi-goal games – including a hat trick on Feb. 23 against the Utah Grizzlies – and four three-point games during the month.

    Since making his season debut Jan. 17, Bennett has 17 goals and 30 points over 19 games. He leads all ECHL players in goals, points and shots on goal since that date.

    The Grand Island, N.Y. native was named ECHL Player of the Week Feb. 25 after a four-goal, six-point series against the Grizzlies. In 106 career ECHL games, all with the Rush, Bennett had 53 goals and 98 points.

    Bennett started the 2024-25 season in Denmark with the Odense Bulldogs. In nine games, he recorded nine points (6-3-9).He also appeared in 16 games with Ev Landshut (Del2), scoring four points (3-1-4).
