Royals punch ticket to Kelly Cup contention, extending remarkable 13-of-15-year playoff streak with proven talent and winning culture.

The Reading Royals have officially secured their place in the 2026 Kelly Cup Playoffs, continuing a strong tradition of postseason appearances for the longtime ECHL franchise.

Consistency Leads to Postseason Return

Reading’s qualification adds to an impressive stretch of success, as the team has now reached the playoffs in 13 of its last 15 seasons. This sustained consistency reflects the organization’s ability to remain competitive year after year in the ECHL’s North Division.

The Royals, affiliates of the Philadelphia Flyers and Lehigh Valley Phantoms, have built a reputation for developing talent while maintaining a winning culture—often translating into postseason appearances.

Franchise Pedigree

Since relocating to Reading in 2001, the Royals have been a regular contender in the league. The franchise captured its first Kelly Cup championship in 2013 and has remained a fixture near the top of the standings across multiple eras.

Now in their 24th season, the Royals continue to build on that legacy, combining experienced leadership with emerging contributors as they prepare for another playoff run.

With their playoff spot clinched, Reading turns its focus to postseason positioning and potential matchups within the North Division. The final weeks of the regular season will determine seeding, but the Royals enter the playoffs as a battle-tested team with both experience and depth.

If recent seasons are any indication, Reading will once again be a team to watch as the chase for the Kelly Cup begins.
